In the small prairie town of Cooks Creek, approximately 35 kilometres northeast of Winnipeg Manitoba, lies the Church of the Immaculate Conception.
The Church, which is Ukrainian Catholic, was built entirely with volunteer labour by the church congregation. Construction began in the year 1930 and was completed in 1952.
The yellow and blue colours which decorate the brick, cement, and stucco structure match that of the Ukrainian flag.
The Immaculate Conception Church is one of Manitoba’s 57 National Historic Sites. It has also been designated a Provincial Historic Site.
Next to the church lies a bell tower, the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes, and a cemetery.
